Srinagar: Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) has registered 200 FIRs against vested interested elements from past three months and has seized 45 tippers for ferrying construction material illegally during night hours around green belt in Srinagar.
According to a top LAWDA official its Enforcement Wing carried demolition operation at Laam Brein and Astanpora area of Nishat where a shop was illegally raised by a person. The demolition squad faced stiff resistance from a section of people, however, the shop was raised to ground and an FIR was lodged against the miscreants.
The official said that from past three months all but 45 tippers have been seized by the Demolition squad of LAWDA. The previous night two tippers bearing registration numbers JK16-7100 and JK13B-5526 were seized for ferrying construction material in the peripheries of Dal Lake, he said adding that LAWDA needs cooperation from people to stop the illegal constructions in the green belt.
