Pulwama: A complete shutdown was observed for the third consecutive day on Thursday in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of three slain militants who were killed in 50-hour long gunfight here.

According to eye-witnesses, all shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the roads in Pampore, Frestbal, Sempora and Pantha Chowk areas.

Police and paramilitary were deployed on the roads to thwart any possible protests.

However, no clashes were reported in the area till the last reports came in.

Hurriyat (G) on Wednesday has appealed people to assemble at Pampore today for the funeral prayers in absentia for three militants.

Calling it a “religious obligation”, a spokesperson of the amalgam has said that the prayers will be held after the Zuhr (afternoon) prayers at Pampore. (KNS)
