SDM conducts market checks in Qamarwari

SRINAGAR: On the instructions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir a market checking squad headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate Srinagar Syed Haneef Balkhi today conducted checking of various markets in Qamarwari area of Srinagar city.

 During the inspection, the squad inspected markets including fruit mandi Parimpora and destroyed rotten vegetables, fruits and other adulterated food items and challaned five shopkeepers for violation of Food Safety and Standards Act, besides clearing footpaths from encroachments.

 The penalized shopkeepers were directed to display the government approved rate list of all essential commodities.  The SDM  asked people and shopkeepers to cooperate with the department so as to put an end to the menace of profiteering, hoarding and food adulteration.

  SDM Srinagar West, Assistant Director Enforcement Wing CA&PD, Drug and Food Control Officer and officers from Weight & Measures Srinagar, SMC and Health were part of the market checking team.
