Casual labourers seek intervention of Governor

Srinagar:  Casual labourers working in State Tourism Department Thursday staged a protest here against the nonpayment of their due salaries from last two years.

A number of Casual labourers assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar to press for their demand. They appealed State Governor and Advisor Parvez Deewan to look into the matter and direct the Department to release their salaries.

The protesting casual labourers told CNS that Department availed their services even during the devastating 2014 floods when all the top officials of the Department were running for life. “Despite serving the Department wholeheartedly we were deprived from the due salary. It is injustice towards. We have been running from pillar to post pleading before the officials to release our pending salaries but all in vain. Now we humbly request His Excellency Governor of the State to have pity on them and release our pending salaries,” the casual labourers of Tourism Department said. (CNS)
