KUPWARA: Massacres in the month of January 1990 represent the ugly face of Indian democracy in Kashmir.

Kupwara massacre on 27th January and before that Handwara and other massacres are glaring examples of state sponsored Indian terrorism in Kashmir.

According to a statement issued to KNS, Police and forces arrested JKLF vice chairman sheikh Muhammad Afzal and senior member Muhammad Afzal Mir Kupwara in an early morning raid today while as senior leader JKLF Zahoor Ahmad Butt along with APHC (JK) leader Shabir Ahmad Dar and human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo have been arrested today after they held a prayers meeting at Kupwara martyrs graveyard.

While condemning these arrest JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said that massacres in the month of January 1990 etc. represent the ugly face of Indian democracy in Kashmir.

Kupwara massacre on 27th January and before that Handwara massacre are glaring examples of state sponsored Indian terrorism in Kashmir.

Yasin Malik said that Kupwara massacre and repeated massacres like these on one hand represent the Kashmiri resilience and love for freedom and on the other hand these are a glaring example of Indians using their military might to suppress the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. 

He said that from Gawkadal to Kupwara and from Sailan Poonch to Handwara these Kashmiri Jalyanwala Bagh’s are also an ample evidence of the double faced approach of the international community which has turned a blind eye on these mass killings.

Yasin Malik said that Kashmiris are fighting for their freedom and martyrs who laid down their lives at Kupwara are our heroes.

Yasin Malik while condemning the arrest of JKLF and other pro-freedom leaders at Kupwara today said that no killer till date has been arrested and instead of this so-called rulers are not even allowing a prayers meeting foe those killed brutally by their forces.

Meanwhile another JKLF delegation led by vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt today visited Pushwara Islamabad and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family of martyr Mushtaq Ahmad Haroo who embraced martyrdom at Kokernagh recently. Butt was accompanied by district president Islamabad Muhammad Ishaaq Ganaie, Mushtaq Ahmad Kuchay and Bashrat Ahmad Dar.

Butt met with the bereaved family and addressed a condolence meeting. While paying rich tributes to the great martyr Mushtaq Ahmad Haroo, he said the the blood of these great souls will not go waste and Kashmiris will never surrender before the tyranny and oppression. Butt said that these martyrs are our heroes and we will keep striving till the achievement of the desired goal. (KNS)
