Saudi jets eliminate 11-member Yemeni family

SANA’A: Saudi aircraft have bombed an area in the northwestern Yemeni province of al-Jawf, killing an entire family of 11 people.

The fatalities occurred on Tuesday, Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported, identifying the head of the family as Sheikh Saleh Hadi Herman.

The attack came two days after Saudi warplanes killed a Yemeni judge and six members of his family after bombing their home in Hay al-Nahzah district in the capital Sana’a.

Saudi Arabia has been pounding Yemen since March last year. Nearly 8,300 people have been killed since the onset of the war.

On Tuesday, the Yemeni army allegedly repelled a Saudi offensive to take back military bases in the city of al-Raboueh in the kingdom’s Jizan region. According to Yemen’s official Saba Net news agency, Saudi forces suffered heavy losses.

The Yemeni army also targeted a gathering of loyalists to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi in the Dhubab district of the Ta’izz province. Officials said an unknown number of mercenaries were killed or injured in the attack.
