Bedecked Dara Shikoh Garden Set For Mufti’s Final Adieu

BIJBEHARA: The fourth and final day of mourning also called chaharum of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is being observed today at the Dara Shikoh garden in Bijbehara where the deceased was buried on Thursday.

All the necessary arrangement for the guests who are expected to arrive has been finalised, said a top district official.

Besides family members, a large number of people across party lines are expected to attend the occasion. 

Earlier some top brass in the police and state administration including DG Police, K Rajendra, IGP Kashmir, SJM Geelani and Director SSG (Special security Guard) Afad-Ul-Mujtaba, visited the Dara Shikoh garden to take stock of the security arrangements.

“One team of SSG and police has been deployed, besides three companies of CRPF,” a top police official told Kashmir Observer.

Senior PDP members Abdul Rehman Veeri and Abdul Haq Khan were also present at the venue. Sufficient arrangements have been put in place for the VIPs and media. 

The recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, according to the family sources, will begin at 11.00 AM and will continue for the whole day.

Mufti Sayeed breathed his last at AIIMS on Thursday around 7:30 AM and was buried in the same garden that late evening.
