10 houses gutted, property worth crores destroyed

SRINAGAR: Over 10 houses were gutted in a devastating fire in the down town Srinagar today, official sources said.

The fire broke out in a house at Urdu Bazar, Fateh Kadal. However, when fire tenders reached the densely populated area, flames had spread to adjoining areas also.

They said over a dozen houses were damaged in the fire though fire tenders were rushed from different parts of the city to control the leaping flames, visible from a distance.

Residents said they could not save anything as fire spread within minutes to entire area. We lost even our clothes, they said adding loss would be in crores.

However, no one was injured, sources said, adding the cause of fire was being ascertained. (AGENCIES)
