Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar Friday expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in a condolence meeting held at Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by all senior police officers including Additional Directors General of Police from all wings of JKP, said an official handout.

Paying rich tributes to the late Chief Minister, Kumar said that as Home Minister of the State he took keen interest in strengthening the Jammu and Kashmir Police, enabling it to effectively discharge its responsibility of maintaining law and order in the State.

On many occasions, he had expressed his desire to upgrade the Jammu and Kashmir Police by strengthening its components viz professional training, infrastructure and communication network, said Kumar.

“He was always generous towards the police organization in creating uniformity and more promotional avenues for all ranks of the Organization. Mufti Sahib was a great leader with broad vision and had vast experience to take revolutionary decisions for leading the state towards peace and prosperity. He was a harbinger of peace and stability in the State and his passing away has created a vacuum in the hearts and minds of the people and Jammu and Kashmir Police in particular,” he said.

Kumar, on behalf of JKP, expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. On the occasion two minutes silence was observed by participants in respect of the departed leader. (CNS)
