Sukhnandan chairs DDB review meeting

BARAMULLA: Calling for accelerating pace of progress on developmental projects, Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar, who is the Chairman of District Development Board Baramulla, today stressed for timely completion of ongoing works in the district.

The Minister had a detailed review of implementation of the decisions of DDB.

Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari, MLA Baramulla, Javed Hussan Beigh, MLA Gulmarg, Mohammad Abbas Wani, MLA Rafiabad, Yawar Dilawar Mir, MLA Sopore, Abdul Rashid Dar, concerned MLCs besides District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal and Heads of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

District Development Commissioner, presented a detailed report of the physical and financial progress achieved under different schemes in the district. She said that out of the total released funds of Rs. 8394.40 Lakh so far, the total expenditure stands at 5332.96 Lakh till 31st December, which amounts to a total of 63.52 % expenditure. She also apprised the meeting of the DDB directions which have been implemented in the district besides those which are under execution.

It was informed that under MGNREGA, IAY and Special Area Programmes, the expenditure stands at 90 %, 53 % and 96 % respectively. Similarly, under PHE, NFB and Minor Irrigation schemes, the expenditure stands at 71.33 %, 89 % and 41 %, respectively.

Meanwhile, various issues were raised by the Legislators including Baramulla Master Plan, establishment of SDH at Rafiabad, Irrigation and Water supply schemes and construction of Godawans at Rafiabad.

Discussion was also held on various projects where the construction work has been suspended due to paucity of funds, namely Jatti Bridge, and Administrative Complex Tangmarg. Issues related to Decongestion of Old Town Baramulla, Construction of Youth Hostel, Sewage Treatment plants were also discussed. A revision of SSA, RMSA and other schemes was also taken during the meeting. A thorough review of four-lanning of Srinagar-Baramulla highway was also taken during the meeting.

Sukhnandan Kumar also reviewed the process of the widening and macdamisation of roads which have been decided in the DDB board meeting was also taken. Besides, schemes under PDD department were also reviewed.

Meanwhile, the minister informed that a total of 40,000 forms have been issued under AASRA Scheme in the district so far, out of which 32, 000 forms have been received by the department. 

It was also mentioned that AASRA scheme is an Insurance Scheme for people below the annual income of Rs. 75,000 rupees, wherein the premium is wholly taken care of by the Government.
