Rs 4700 collected as fine during market checking at Kunzer

BARAMULLA: In order to curb profiteering in markets, District Enforcement Team of CA&PD headed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Abdul Qayoom Wednesday inspected various markets in Kunzer and fined the defaulter shopkeepers for violating the provisions of Consumer Protection Act and other related laws and charged them a fine of Rs. 4700. A huge quantity of rotten vegetables was also destroyed during the operation.

It was decided that such market inspections would be regularly conducted in Tangmarg Sub-division. A similar market checking operation in Tangmarg market was conducted on Tuesday wherein Rs 1200 were realised as fine from the defaulters. The SDM also informed that close vigil is being kept in order to avoid sale and use of polythene in the area.
