Naeem inspects educational institutions in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar Wednesday visited Udhampur and inspected various educational institutions including Government Degree College (Boys) Udhampur, Government Model Higher Secondary School (Boys) Udhampur and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Udhampur.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for Finance and IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta and District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.

During his visit, Education Minister interacted with the students and staff of the college and schools. He also enquired about the intake capacity of PG classes and number of faculty members in the college. Minister directed Principal GDC Udhampur to introduce new courses in Economics and English in PG stream as well as introduce courses on ethnic food and organic food in the college.

Minister instructed Principal GDC Udhampur to have regular interaction of staff with students on the latest trends, methods, technology, besides organizing regular workshops for capacity building of students. Minister asked Principal to use computer lab, library for skill enhancement, capacity building as well as knowledge enrichment of students and start evening classes in the college. He also directed Principal GDC to upgrade the chemistry lab infrastructure for PG students.

Minister asked DDC to start coaching centres for students in the college, so that they can compete for various competitive exams at the state as well as national level. He also inspected computer lab, laboratories and music room in the college as well as schools.

At GMHSS (Boys) Udhampur, the Minister stressed for integration of schools and said that soon classes from 1st to 12th will be started at GMHSS (Boys) Udhampur. At GHSS (Girls), Udhampur, Minister also interacted with the students. He instructed Principal GHSS (Girls) to start evening classes in the school.

MoS Finance & IT, Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta also stressed for introduction of vocational courses at college level and upliftment of educational standards in various schools and colleges.

Among others, SSP, Mr. Suleiman Choudhary, ADC, Angrez Singh Rana, Principal GDC Boys, Prof S. S. Balwal, CEO, Bishan Singh, CEO MCU, K.K Chalotra, Principal GHSS boys & Girls, staff and students were also present on the occasion.
