Aasiya’s mother was victim of state vendetta: DeM

Jammu:  Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Monday expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of mother of groups chairperson.

Secretary General, Nahida Nasreen, said that the demise of the mother of Syedah Asiya Andrabi is not only a “great personal loss to her but to all Muslims and Dukhtaran-e-Millat in particular”.

“Members of DeM enjoyed the maternal love the deceased for the past 30 years and thus every member of DeM has a tear in her eyes. The deceased was regarded as a mother for the entire pro-freedom camp and hence was remembered by the name Mouj,” Nasreen said in a statement.

She said, “Personally, I had keenly observed the deceased for the past 3 decades and found her to be an upright religious and courageous lady. She belonged to a family that has made great sacrifices for the movement and religion. Her brother and many other family members were exiled. Most of her children are very active regarding Islam and movement. It is a result of the upbringing of this great lady that her children have shown such steadfastness and are right now scattered across 5 countries. Though being very old she possessed strong mental abilities and an iron will. She participated in the meetings of DeM and gave valuable advice to us”.

She said Asiyas mother was herself victim of vendetta and was denied passport for a long time which delayed her cherished wish of performing Hajj for a long time.

“Her husband Shahabuddin Andrabi also died in exile in Pakistan. She thanked Allah that the last hours of the deceased were peaceful.”

Nasreen added, “though we are ourselves grieved but we extend heartfelt condolence to her incarcerated son-in-law Dr Muhammad Qasim who couldn’t even participate in the funeral prayers. Her children who couldn’t even see their mother for the one last time are also in our prayers.”

Militant outfits pays tribute to Aasiya’s mother

Hizbul Mujhideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba have expressed sorrow and grief over the demise of the mother of Dukhtaran-e-Milat chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi.

Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin in a statement to CNS said that the mother of Andrabi was a epitome of sacrifices and a religious figure who braved all odds to kindle the candle of Kashmir Freedom Movement.

“The departed soul imparted Islamic education to her children and she was the part and parcel of the ongoing freedom struggle. It was her commitment and belief in Islam that her whole family supported and advocated freedom struggle and even her daughter Syeda Aasiya Andrabi has been representing women in Kashmir and tolerating all the hardships for sake of Kashmir Freedom Struggle,” Salahuddin said.

As per the statement, the other leaders of the Hizb also paid rich tributes to the dedication and contribution of Andrabi’s mother towards the freedom struggle and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.

Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba Chief Mehmood Shah while paying rich tribute to the departed soul said that Late Alvi Sahiba was a bold mother and courageous mother-in-law who produced a brave leader like Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and also got a true Muslim like Dr Qasim Faktoo as son-in-law. “We feel envy while tracking down the history of this family. We lost a true leader who never succumbed to the pressure of Indian Agencies,” Shah said.
