KOFC Trounces CFC In Nail Biting Finish

SRINAGAR: As the motto says ‘STEP UP AND INSPIRE’, KOFC (Kashmir Observer Football Club) did just that at Islamia College Grounds here on Saturday.

In the first leg KOFC managed a six goal lead but eventually that proved to be nothing in the second leg.

KOFC took a two goal lead provided by brilliant solo goals from Burhan and Faizan in the first 10 minutes of the second leg and they still decided to play offensive. But the Old City CHALLENGERS (CFC) had other ideas.

Sharik dribbled and scored two back goals in the 20th minute. Followed soon after that Rashid tucked two from a range in the 42nd minute.

One of the CFC’s young stars Ali scored a beautiful kick from 25 yards. Then Sharik passed the ball to Rashid who got fouled and refereee pointed to the spot. The penality was converted by Usman the captain of the team.

In 77th minute KOFC again conceded a penalty which was again converted into  a goal by the CFC captain .

KOFC was left with deadly situation, 7-2 was the lead taken by challengers in the 78th minute. It was a heart break for KOFC. It was over for KOFC, before the captain stood up and planned a new strategy.

Players without wasting a moment launched a counter attack which led to a goal by Sajid. Then again a wonderful attack led Sajid to score second goal in the 82nd minute. A brilliant sliding tackle by Arsalan and the ball fell on Mohsin’s feet, who dribbled past several players and  found the net in the 89th minute.

Burhaan dribbled skillfully past players and passed the ball to Mohsin who found Fazal in the middle and Fazal scored the 6th in the injury time which was 5 minutes.

Still one behind and that moment was worth a win as Mohsin again passed the ball to Fazal who dribbled past the CFC defence and took a shot from 12 yards out and that went right into the top left corner and into the net. It was a moment that made the spectators jump onto the pitch and hug the KOFC players.

It wasn’t over yet as in the last seconds of the extra-time Sajid hammered in a terrific volley from 20 yards right into the net and became the hero of the day.

Spectators, players every one cheered while watching that goal by Sajid. The best come back in local football history from loosing 2-7 to the final score 8-7.

The players never gave up but stepped up and showed the people how good they are.
