Protest against Nigeria killing in Pattan

Share

Pulwama: Denouncing alleged military crackdown and ‘mass killings’ of Shia Muslims in Nigeria, scores of Shia Muslims Friday held protest in Hanjiveera Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The protesters who tried to block Srinagar-Baramulla road carried placards and banners and raised slogans against the Nigerian government and appealed International human rights organizations and United Nations to take note of the massacre of the Muslims. They also demanded the release of prominent Nigerian Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim-al-Zakzaki who according to them has been lodged at an unknown destination by Nigerian Armed Forces.

Pertinently, hundreds of Shia Muslims are believed to have been killed during violence in northern town of Zaria, Nigeria with military claiming Shia sect tried to attack top military general.
