Srinagar: Unidentified persons lobbed a grenade towards policemen during stone-pelting incident at Sarafkadal area of old Srinagar city on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said that the grenade did not explode and later it was diffused by police. Sarafkadal area witnessed massive stone-pelting after Friday prayers.
A top police official said that during the massive stone-pelting incident, a grenade was lobbed on the police that did not explode. It was later on diffused by the police, he said adding that a case has been registered and investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, a caller identifying himself as Saifullah Saifi from Afghan Brigade Jammu Kashmir informed said that militants attacked a CRPF bunker in Soura, a claim refuted by police. No such attacked took place in Soura. It is all rubbish and baseless, Station House Officer Soura Mushtaq Ahmed said.
