Jammu: Expressing deep shock and grief over the gruesome murder of a mother and her minor son in Rajouri, CPI (M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the incident an eye-opener for the present dispensation in the State and vehemently demanded disbanding of Village Defense Committees (VDCs).
In a statement to CNS, he has said the latest barbaric incident has come less than a week after a political activist was killed by another VDC member in the district. All justifications which were put forth have proven contrary to the idea of creation of such committees. Since then the security environment has changed and the time has come when these defense committees whose some members are now indulging in unlawful acts should be disbanded without any further delay.
