Eid-e-Milad: All Roads Lead to Dargah

SRINAGAR: Despite bone-chilling cold, tens of thousands of devotees from all across Kashmir Thursday thronged Hazratbal shrine here on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

According to the reports people, including a large number of women came in buses, cars and on foot to pay obeisance at the lake side marble domed shrine which houses a relic of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) and is called by Kashmiris Madinat-us-Sani, to have glimpses of the relic, displayed five times after every prayer at the shrine.

“Despite sub-zero conditions, thousands of people converged at the shrine at dawn and had glimpse of relic after Fajr prayer on the day marking the day when Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was born.      

At afternoon (Zuhr) prayers, estimates said nearly hundred thousand people offered prayers at the shrine. 

Most people, some in tears, were seen with raised hands praying inside and in the sprawling lawns. 

Earlier devour spent night offering ‘Durud’ (praises for the Prophet) and reciting verses of Holy Qur’an at the shrine for atonement of their sins.

Nightlong prayers were held in scores of Sufi shrines and Khanqah’s which dot Kashmir valley.

Besides Hazratbal, congregational prayers were held at 

Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab, Syed Yaqoob Sahab Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib. Similar prayers were also held at Masjids and shrines in Islamabad mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan.

After several decades, markets and most of the major city thoroughfares were decorated and illuminated with florescent lights while religious flags and buntings were hoisted atop many buildings and vehicles to celebrate the birth day of glorious prophet.

Meanwhile, Milad processions were taken out in the city and other places of the Valley and the participants included children in large numbers.  

A Milad procession was organized by Anjuman-i-Sharie Shiayan in Zadibal area and it culminated amid pro-Islamic slogans at Gulshan Bagh Hawal. 

A motor procession was taken out by Karwan-i-Islami from Shaheed Ganj to Shadipora Sonawari. Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami highlighted the need of following the footsteps of Prophet and stressed on unity among Muslims. This car procession passed through Karan Nagar, Maloora, HMT and culminated at Tregam, Shadipora.

A Milad procession was also led by Moulana Maqsood that started from Jamia Masjid Zewan Bala which passed through various areas in which small children also participated.

Similar processions were reported from Ganderbal, Bandipora, Pulwama, Shopian, Tangmarg, Anantnag, Beerwah, Kangan, Sumbal, Hajin and other places.

Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Yasir of Umat-i-Islamia also led a huge Milad procession at Islamabad. Moulana Fayaz Ahmed Rizwi of Saut-ul-Awlia also led a Milad procession in Anantnag, Islamabad. 

Thousands of people offered prayers at Masjids and shrines mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan. People also took out Milad processions from other parts of the district. 

In different areas of Pulwama including Kakapora, Pampore, Patipora, Hadiwara, Alochibagh, Gadoora, Munghama and Muran  massive Milad processions were taken out in which thousands of people participated.
In Budgam, prayers were held throughout the day at Ziyarat of Hazrat Syed Hussain Simnani (RA) and at the shrine of Sheikh-ul-Aalam in Charar-e-Sharief.

In Baramulla thousands of people assembled at the shrine of Syed Janbaz Wali at Khanpora this morning where from a huge procession was taken out. The devotees while reciting Quranic verses marched through the main chowk of the town and later the march culminated at Dargah-e-Aalia old town Baramulla.

A Seerat Conference was held at Idgah in Jammu. The day long Seerat Conference was organised by Anjuman Islah-ul- Muslimeen, Jammu. 
The conference was presided over by Vice President All India Muslim Personal Board, Maulana Dr. Kalab-e-Sadiq. A large number of people besides religious scholars participated in the conference. The clerics on the occasion threw light on the teachings and working of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and through their sermons impressed upon the people to be united and follow the teaching of Prophet (SAW).

 

In Bhaderwah, people took out procession from the historic Jamia Masjid which passed through various roads and streets of Bhaderwah town in which various prominent Muslim scholars made their speeches and threw light on the teachings and working of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
