SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was Thursday admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi after he complained of uneasiness.
79-year-old Sayeed was admitted with chief complaint of fever in the private ward. His condition is absolutely stable, except for a little fever, an AIIMS spokesperson said. He was admitted in the private ward of the premier medical institute at 12.30 PM.
He is being looked after by a team of doctors from the departments of Endocrinology and Medicine. He will undergo a battery of investigations to know the cause of his problem, said Dr Amit Gupta, AIIMS spokesperson and Additional Professor of Trauma Surgery and Critical Care at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
According to another doctor in AIIMS, the Chief Minister was supposed to visit the hospital today for a routine medical check-up under the supervision of Dr Mohammed Ashraf Ganie, Assistant Professor, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
An official spokesman in Srinagar said, Chief Minister undertook a hectic six-hour-long tour of Srinagar city on Tuesday amidst intense cold, after which he complained of exhaustion. He took complete rest at his official residence and was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi today, the spokesman said.
Muftis daughter and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was accompanying him.
The spokesman said CMs health is absolutely fine and he is taking rest.
It was felt appropriate to proceed to the union capital for consultation and medical check up, he said.
Official sources said Mufti was airlifted to AIIMS New Delhi in a State aircraft after he complained of uneasiness this morning.
A senior PDP leader said CM Mufti was feeling better and relaxed.
However, he has not been discharged yet, he said.
Mufti, who took over as Chief Minister of PDP-BJP government on March 1 this year, had last month hinted at handing over power to his daughter, Mehbooba Mufti saying she was mature enough to handle responsibilities.
There have been speculation in the State that owing to his health, Mufti may hand over power to his daughter Mehbooba.
