Techie Shot After Attacking Parents, 20 Others With Sword

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old engineer was shot dead today by the police after going on an attacking rampage with a sword just outside his home, according to reports.

At approximately 7am this morning in Telengana’s Karimnagar, Balvinder Singh grabbed a sword and attacked his parents during the course of an argument, NDTVreported. After injuring his father, and stabbing his mother in the abdomen, he then rushed outside his home and started attacking pedestrians.

The electronics engineer, who was working at Oracle Company in Bengaluru, wasreportedly suffering from depression after failing to pass the civil service exams.

He assaulted 20 people, before the police came and tried to contain him. An auto rickshaw driver and a biker were injured in the attack, as were two policemen who tried to tackle him.

The horrific incident finally came to an end, when a cop fired his gun at Singh, after he refused to drop the sword. Singh was admitted to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. His parents and the auto rickshaw driver lie in critical condition.
