Shopian Dec22:- The Residents of Imamsahib and its adjacent areas have complained that Power Development Department (PDD) has been resorting to unscheduled power cuts in the district since the last few weeks causing immense hardships to the people. The residents of Wachi, Imamsahib, Trenz, DK Pora, Hillow, Dobipora, Kanigam, Nagbal, Tarkwangam, Sugoo and other areas complained that the erratic power supply not only compounds the problems of people, but also causes hardships to students preparing for various examinations. We even face erratic power cut-offs during the time when we have to receive electricity according to PDD schedule. It is better for the authorities to keep electricity off for this area, Bashir Ahmad Dar a local resident of Dobipora angrily said. The residents appealed the government to ensure uninterrupted power supply, keeping in view the career of students. Our examinations are likely to commence within few days. If the power cuts are not averted, we will land in huge trouble, said a student, Zubair Rashid. Even the metered areas in this district are not being provided the power supply as per the schedule, the residents added. The residents of the area also alleged that their MLA was not paying any heed towards the matter.
