SRINAGAR: Tensions flared up in areas around Jamia Mosque Tuesday soon after Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed turned up there along with his entourage.
CM flanked by Minister for Roads and Public Works Altaf Bukhari and PDP MLC Khursheed Alam had reached there to inaugurate a Community Hall in the area.
As soon as the word about his arrival spread, dozens of youth appeared in the Nowhatta Chowk and pelted stones at police. Eyewitnesses said that police resorted to tear gas shelling.
