Flood aftermath: Shikara owners seek compensation

Srinagar: All J&K Shikara Workers Union Tuesday appealed the authorities to compensate their losses including damages to Shikaras during in September 2014 floods.

Shikara Workers said that the Shikara owners of Dal, Nigeen and Mansbal Lake, river Jehlum suffered huge losses in the devastated floods. “We hardly manage two square meals a day as we are unable to operate Shikaras that have been badly damaged,” the Shikara workers said and appealed government to compensate them on priority basis.
