2 killed as Maruti car rams into drill machine

GANDERBAL: Two persons were killed Monday morning when a vehicle they were travelling in collided with a drill machine in South Kashmir’s Pampore, officials said.

They said that the accident took place near joinery mill at Sempora Pampora when a Maruti car bearing registration number JK16 0262 rammed into a drill machine resulting onspot death of the driver and his colleague .

Police sources identified the deceased as Gh Nabi Sofi and a Kashmiri Pandit Ramesh Kumar Raina son of Prem Nath both residents of Nuner Ganderbal.

Police has registered a case in this regard and after medico legal formalities the dead bodies of the duo were handed over to their heirs for last rites .

According to reports Ghulam Nabi Sofi is said to be a retired Govt.teacher and Ramesh Raina a forest employee and the duo had left for Jammu from Ganderbal early morning.

Meanwhile in another road mishap Registrar Kashmir University Monday afternoon met an accident when he was leaving the campus in his official vehicle, but he escaped unhurt.

Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf, KU Registrar met with an accident outside the Rumi Gate when he was leaving the campus in his ambassador car. As per the eye-witnesses, an LP vehicle rammed into Sahaf’s vehicle but he escaped unhurt.
