SRINAGAR: Castigating the government for its “anti-people” policies, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said that though the Hurriyat amalgam is “striving for the political resolution of Kashmir issue” but it can’t “remain mute spectator” on the vows and agonies faced by the people because of the government’s indifferent attitude towards their problems.

Addressing a Seerat-e-Majlis at Mujahir-e-Milat Masjid at Saraf Kadal Chowk in Shehar Khas after Zuhr (afternoon) prayers, Mirwaiz while referring to the imposition of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the state said, “instead of providing proper amount of rice to the people (rice being the staple diet of Kashmiris) the government’s move has substantially reduced the monthly quota of every family and thus made them vulnerable to mal nutrition.”

“In these chilling days of winter, people are being denied adequate ration, electricity, cooking gas and kerosene oil which clearly speaks of an anti-people policy of the government. NFSA is another black law for Kashmiris imposed with the intention to make them suffer and increase their agonies,” Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz said during the past few days, a number of delegations visited him and expressed concern over implementation of NFSA, “Kashmiris were facing political, economic and other problems while the government which is their only with the claim of addressing people’s problems seems actually busy in creating more troubles and problems for the people.”

Earlier, Mirwaiz shed light on the life and times of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and said Muslims everywhere were caught in a quagmire of problems and it was mostly because they were getting away from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the holy Quran.

He said Muslims were facing problems at the individual as well as collective levels despite having abundant resources available to them and they were caught in these problems only because of distancing themselves from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Mirwaiz added Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had brought light in the darkness and shown a path of righteousness and prosperity to the people.
