J & K Sikh Council Hails Mufti’s Statement on Border Tourism

SRINAGAR:  Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Council has congratulated the Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed for his bold initiative and decision of developing Suchetgarh border as tourism destination on the patter of Wagah border of Punjab.

The Council members in a statement have said that  there is no alternative of peace and it is imperative for reviewing economy of the state and especially of Jammu region that have witnessed a decline after direct train to Katra.

Sardar Harmohinder Singh, the Chairman of JK Sikh Council ( and ward member of Cantonment Board, Satwari ) also demanded that  developing Suchetgarh-Sialkot International border as Trade Center for business activities between India-Pakistan. ‘ Strengthening economic ties would ensure long term peace and development not only of border regions of the two countries but it can be a role model for the sub-continent.’ He said. Sardar Harasis Singh, General Secretary of the Council also welcomed the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir government regarding border tourism and he urged the Union government of India to consider the demand of Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed for opening of more border-trade- centers in Jammu and Kashmir state.
