SRINAGAR: In a shocking and bizarre incident an abandoned dead infants body was reclaimed by a crowd from the jaws of a stray dog in Lal Chowk Thursday morning. People started taking pictures of the dead infant
who wrapped in a newspaper was abandoned by some unknown person in the wee hours of the morning. A melee ensued after people noticed the dead baby in the jaws of a stray dog.
Instead of sympathy and empathy, people used the opportunity to take pictures for shock and awe effect.
People chased the dog for a long till it dropped the baby. It was rescued by the people from the animals clutches but the baby was dead. It was not clear if the infant was alive when the dog had lifted it.
Police said a case been registered and investigation taken up. Locals later buried the baby.
The whole saga is an indictment of our society , its moral compass and the callous disregard for life.
