Share

SRINAGAR:  Army has ordered an inquiry into the disappearance of three civilians who went missing on November 17 after they were seen accompanying a Territorial Army (TA) soldier in Kupwara.

Army Wednesday said that if anyone from Army is found involved in the mysterious disappearance of three Kupwara civilians, action will be initiated against them without any delay.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt Gen Satish Dua said that army has ordered an inquiry into the case.

Pertinently, three residents of Trehgam village in the frontier district—Ghulam Jeelani Khatana (42), Mir Hussain Khatana (45) and Ali Muhammad Sheikh (40)—are missing since November 17. Their missing date coincided with the day when army claimed to have killed militants in Kupwara encounter.

They had been seen accompanying a soldier of 160 Batallion Manzoor Ahmad Khoja, a resident of Dardpora on November 17.

However, Army has already denied any involvement in the missing case of three persons and assured full cooperation in police inquiry.

Dua said that he wants to make it clear that, “If army’s role is established in the case, action will follow.”
