JK Excise Dept foils smuggling bid of willow clefts

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Excise and Taxation department today foiled a bid to smuggle 4,450 willow clefts to NewDelhi from the state. 

The alert team of Excise and Taxation department Lakhanpur foiled an attempt to smuggle 4,450 willow clefts from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi, an official spokesman said. 

The clefts were found hidden under the fruit boxes in a truck, he said. 

The official noted that the truck driver managed to escape while the vehicle was confiscated. 

The truck was handed over to the police, he said, adding that a case has been registered and investigation was on in the matter.
