SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (M Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said Kashmiri people need to safeguard the sacrifices of the tens of thousands of martyrs, who had offered selfless sacrifices for taking the ongoing resistance movement to its logical conclusion.
The leadership, he said, needed to show confidence in the people and remain steadfast and involved with the movement at every stage.
Kashmiris had been offering sacrifices of their lives and properties for the past several decades, Mirwaiz wrote to a local news agency, KNS. They needed to ensure that these sacrifices do not go waste for which they needed to be steadfast and committed to take the vexed Kashmir issue to its logical conclusion.
Kashmiris had rendered selfless sacrifices of their lives and properties and now needed to keep the resistance movement going, he said.
Hurriyat (M) chairperson said, the people needed to remain focused and steadfast in their resolve to take the Kashmir issue to its logical conclusion and not get disheartened by the prolonging of the resistance struggle. There was no need for people to be dejected and the international and regional situation was encouraging for the resolution of Kashmir.
Mirwaiz later visited the residences of two slain youth of Bijbehara, Nazir Ahmad Bhat and Adil Ahmad Sheikh, who were killed in a gunfight with forces at Ashmuqam where he expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families.
Speaking to the aging fathers of the slain youth and their other family members, he paid glowing tributes to them and said these sacrifices were the real treasures of the resistance movement and Kashmiris needed to values these pearls and gems.
He expressed his solidarity with these families and said, the martyred youth despite facing difficulties and hardships ensure that the resistance movement continued with all its vigour. Now it was the responsibility of the entire nation, people as well as the leadership, to safeguard these sacrifices and not rest until the movement reaches its logical conclusion.
Mirwaiz added, besides India, the pro-India parties of Kashmir were contributing to the oppression and suppression of the Kashmiri people as their only desire was to cling to power. They did not care anything about the people of Kashmir and were will to sacrifice them for fulfilling their nefarious designs.
