Naazir Kulgami Demise condoled

Srinagar: Various literary circles Saturday expressed grief over the death of noted writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Naazir Kulgami of Yaripora Kulgam, who died in the morning after protracted illness at SKIMS, Soura. Kulgami was 88.

Soon after the news Adbi Markaz Kamraz held condolence meetings and recalled his services to Kashmiri language and literature and prayed for the peace of his departed soul.

Kulgami was conferred with the coveted Sahitya Akademi Award in 1991 for his poetry collection, Achhre Tsange.

Meanwhile Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed grief over the demise of Ghulam Nabi Naazir.

In his condolence message, Mufti Sayeed described late Naazir as a great contemporary poet and author, whose literary works reflect innovations in style. “He excelled both in simplicity of content and expressions,” he said, while highlighting his significant contribution to Kashmiri literature.

The Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
