Israeli troops kill 4 more Palestinians

JERUSALEM: Israeli forces have shot dead four Palestinians amid simmering tensions in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Ma’an news agency said Teher Faisal Funun, 22, and Abdul-Monem Funun, 15, were gunned down during the early hours of Friday in the Tel Rumeida area of the city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

Israeli authorities claimed the two Palestinians were killed after stabbing an Israeli soldier who was slightly injured in the attack.

Elsewhere in the West Bank, Israeli troops opened fire and killed a Palestinian man near the city of Ramallah on the same day after accusing him of being behind a stabbing attack that wounded an Israeli.

The Israeli army said another Palestinian, identified him as 19-year-old Anas Basam Hamad, was also shot dead near the settlement of Ofra north of Ramallah after he ran over and injured two Israeli troops.

On Thursday, two other Palestinian men were gunned down by Israeli forces in separate incidents in the occupied territories.

According to a statement by the Israeli military, one Palestinian was killed at the Hizma military checkpoint north of the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) after getting out of his vehicle and opening fire on Israeli forces.

On Thursday evening, Israeli troops shot and killed another Palestinian who purportedly tried to stab a policeman in East al-Quds. The incident took place near the entrance to the Damascus Gate in the city.

The latest incidents come amid deadly clashes between the Tel Aviv regime and Palestinians over the past weeks.

Tensions are running high between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces in the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip. The wave of unrest was originally triggered by Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing raids on the al-Aqsa Mosque and attacks on their property by Israeli settlers. They believe that the attacks are orchestrated, aimed at changing the demographic status of the third holiest site in Islam.

Since the start of October, over 110 Palestinians and nearly 20 Israelis have been killed in the wave of clashes between Palestinians and Israelis. Agencies
