Geelani completes 230 days in house detention

Srinagar:  Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday completed 230 days in house detention in the year 2015.

According to a Hurriyat spokesperson Geelani was once again forcibly stopped from participating in the Friday congregational prayers this Friday.

Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president for Srinagar and Ganderbal Raja Me’raj-ud-din have also been once again put under house detention and they too were not allowed to offer Friday prayers, he said.

While strongly condemning the government action, All Parties Hurriyat Conference said that Mufti government surpassed all the past records of atrocities and barbarism and his regime is proving to be as the worst period for the pro-freedom people of the state because their all religious, political, social and even their personal activities have been banned in this period of rule.

Hurriyat said that the authorities as usual today deployed additional police force around the Hyderpora residence of Geelani Sahab and blocked the entrance lane at Airport road which leads to the residence of the pro-freedom leader.

Hurriyat Conference said that the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat senior leader Raja Mehraj-ud-din were although recently released from the police custody after a month’s detention but today they were again detained and they too were barred from offering the Friday prayers.

While terming the government actions as the worst kind of state terrorism, Hurriyat conference said that this policy will result in serious consequences and it will increase in the uncertain and political instable situations of the state.

Hurriyat further said that the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had although come up with the beautiful slogans of “Battle of Ideas” and “Goli Nahi Boli” but he had failed on every front and he converted Kashmir into a major prison where the people are barred to express their concerns and have practically implemented the martial law here.

The law and order has been deliberately suspended and the government forces have been given free hand to do anything whatever they want. Hurriyat Conference appealed the Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to take serious notice of the serious situations of the Jammu & Kashmir state and use their influence in releasing the pro-freedom leaders of the state.
