Jamia traders accuse Director Tourism of misbehaviour

Srinagar:  Traders from Jamia Market in old Srinagar city Wednesday staged a protest demanding action against incumbent Director Tourism for ‘misbehaving’ with their president while he was on a visit to the market.

The protest was organized by Shehar-e-Khas Jamia Market Traders Association soon after the culmination of Director Tourism’s visit in the market. “Director Tourism had arrived here to take stock of the works going on in the area from past many years. He not only misbehaved with us but also humiliated us in front of other officials,” President SKJMTA Javid Ahmed Zargar told CNS.

“During his visit to the market, the Director Tourism did not listen to them and instead boasted of being the resident of ‘Down Town’ himself. We always have respected the officials from district administration whosoever visited here but this is the first time any bureaucrat has insulted and humiliated us and our president,” the protesting traders said and appealed State Government to initiate action against the officer.

When contacted Director Tourism Mehmood Shah told CNS that he had gone there for a preliminary visit and there was no need to interact with anyone. “Why should I misbehave with anyone,” he questioned. (CNS)
