Wamiq Farooq was killed after a tear gas shell hit him near Gani Memorial Stadium in 2010. Two cops Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Khaliq and SPO Muhammad Akram found guilty of culpable homicide were send to judicial custody on Tuesday.

The father of the deceased youth told CNS that he is hopeful the guilty cops will be punished for their dirty deed. “They killed my innocent son. I had lost hope but now I am sure they will get what they deserve,” he said.

Farooq Ahmed said that it is not the question of his son only but over a hundred youth were killed by police and CRPF and all the ‘killers’ should be booked and punished. “Government had offered a job for any of my family member in the Police Department. I rejected the offer and demanded justice. It is irony that it took more than five years for the Court and Government to initiate action against the guilty cops,” he said.

He said the victim families of 2010 unrest have been secluded and justice eludes them since last five years.
