Bandipore Mutton, Wool Production Touches 9.43 Lakh Kgs

 

BANDIPORE: An awareness camp was organised by Sheep Husbandry Department at  Bandipora today. The camp was chaired by District Development Commissioner Bandipora.

About 2.41 lakh sheep and goat population has been recorded in Bandipora district while as 7.07 lakh Kgs and 2.36 lakh Kgs mutton and wool production respectively has been registered so for in current fiscal in the district.

During the camp the participants were made aware about the schemes of the department. They were also sensitized about sheep development techniques besides intime treatment of these animals and keeping them clean. It was given out that there is a great potential to boost this sector in Bandipora district for which unemployed youth should come forward and avail benefits from various schemes to set up their sheep units.

Among others, District Sheep Husbandry officer Bandipora, officers and field functionarie,s besides progressive breeders and Cooperative Chopane were present in the camp.

Later, the District Development Commissioner distributed incentives on behalf of the said department among the Breeders and Cooperative Chopane.
