Army Jammer rolls down gorge

Srinagar: An army soldier died while three others sustained injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell down into a deep gorge in Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.

A police official said that the army vehicle (Jammer) bearing registration number 13C-0966666 M of 26 Rajput met with an accident at Khoni Nallah near Sadna Top and fell down 300 ft deep.

In the mishap, one army Hawaldar Sugriv Singh died on the spot and three others received serious injuries, the official said.

He identified the injured as Sepoy Ray Singh of 26 Rajput, Havaldar Thasong Lama and Niak Tema Tamang, both are from 3/1 GR. All the injured were immediately shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment.

Meanwhile, police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
