Srinagar Normal life was affected due to a strike call given by Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani against the killing of three Hizb militants in South Kashmir.
A complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmirs Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian district while in Central and North Kashmir people observed partial shutdown. However, all the shops and business establishments remained shut in city centre Lal Chowk while skeletal movement of transport was observed on the roads.
Reports said that most of the shops in the outskirts of Srinagar city remained open while private transport plied normally on the roads. However in Old Srinagar city life was completely affected due to complete shutdown.
Partial shutdown was also observed in Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara.
Reports said that life was crippled in South Kashmirs four districts where all the business establishments and educational institutions remained shut. During the day long clashes in Bijbehara Anantnag, many protesters were injured.
A police official said that barring few incidents of stone-pelting, the day passed off peacefully all across Kashmir.
