SRINAGAR: National Conference Working President Monday said he condemns the way Prime Minister snubbed an elected Chief Minister during his public meeting in Srinagar when the Prime Minister said he did not require anyones advice on the Kashmir Issue after the Chief Ministers speech.
The NC leader said this was indicative of the systematic erosion of the institution of the Chief Minister under the present, incumbent Chief Minister and how despite his unending praise of the RSS and BJP the Chief Minister stands discredited and snubbed by his own ally.
Omar was speaking at National Conference Working Committee Meet which was presided over by Dr Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar.
The Working Committee meet was also attended by General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and other senior leaders who are members of the Working Committee including Special Invitees to the committee.
The Working Committee of the party discussed various organizational aspects and also deliberated on the current political scenario prevalent in the State.
Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Mr. Omar Abdullah discussed various observations and suggestions with the Working Committee members and said the party would incorporate valid suggestions that would help in strengthening the party.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah highlighted the need to defeat divisive forces who are inimical to the interests of the country in general and the State of Jammu and Kashmir in particular and said recent incidents of intolerance are of grave concern to the party and the people of the State. National Conference president reiterated the partys commitment to uphold the ideals of pluralism and secularism and protecting the rights and liberties of people in all three regions of the State. Dr. Farooq Abdullah reiterated the demand for restoration of Autonomy is forms the non-negotiable core of the partys political agenda. Dr. Farooq Abdullah highlighted the need for peace between India and Pakistan and said mutual cooperation and peaceful co-existence between the two neighbours was imperative to the goals of development and prosperity in the sub-continent. The Party President said the integrity of the State was non-negotiable and said the party would defeat all sinister designs to create fissures between the regions of the State.
Omar Abdullah expressed satisfaction at the partys revitalization in Leh and Kargil and also reiterated the partys vision to strengthen the minority, womens and youth wings of the party and also increase the partys connect with various sections of the society.
Omar pushed J&K into a quagmire of uncertainties: Akhtar
Srinagar: Accusing National Conference (NC) particularly former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of pushing Jammu and Kashmir into a quagmire of uncertainties during its six years rule in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party Monday said that the huge financial package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the state will be used in a judicious and honest way so that all strata of society gets benefitted.
Soon after Civil Secretariat offices opened up in Jammu, State Education Minister Nayeem Akhtar told reporters that Government of India provided financial assistance from time to time during Omar Abdullah led government, but, unfortunately, the NC-Congress Ministers swindled major chunk of funds and instead spending that on developmental works distributed equally and kept them in their personal coffers.
Akhtar alleged that National Conference was responsible for administrative mess and financial liabilities of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the present government through its visionary planning and better management will take Jammu and Kashmir out from mess and in coming months people will feel a sea change on the ground. There is accountability in the government circles and we will surely utilize all the funds in right direction. Our government is for people and we are desperate to do everything for the people of the state. I want to assure people of all the three regions that the each and every penny that will come from the government of India will be spent for the benefit of the common people, Akhtar said.
Responding to a question, Akhtar according to CNS said that people should not harp on relief only but should look at the different angles. Our government will not spend time on relief measures only but it will think and act in terms of development as well. We have not been working for publicity and to make hollow headlines. We have provided flood assistance to the people and in future too we will help the distressed ones, he said adding that for the first few months the present government was grappling with the crisis created through corruption, callousness and appeasement for petty political ends by the previous regime.
