Omar hits out at Modi, says PM ‘weighing state in rupees’

Srinagar: Lashing out at the 80,000 crore rupee package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday slammed the former saying he had repeated his mistake of trying to solve the ‘Kashmir issue’ with money.

“PM Modi has made the same mistake of weighing the Kashmir issue in Rupees & Paise!!!! I will address a press conference at 3 PM today on behalf of @JKNC to respond to the PDP BJP rally in Srinagar,” Omar tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi on Saturday announced an 80,000 crore rupee package for all-round development for the state, saying this was just the beginning, which will change the state’s fortune, give strength to its youth and build a modern Kashmir.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 450 Mega Watt Baglihar Hydro Electric Power Project Stage-II at Ramban in Jammu. He will also lay the foundation stone for four-laning of Udhampur-Ramban and Ramban-Banihal section of National Highway 44 at Chanderkote Ramban and address a gathering there.
