3rd Front to Play Vital Role in Govt Formation: Mir

Share

Srinagar:  Agriculture minister and DP (N) Chief Ghulam Hassan Mir Wednesday accused opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of hatching conspiracy of ‘Gulmarg sell out’ during its tenure from 2002-2008.

Mir while addressing people after filing nominations from Gulmarg assembly segment launched a scathing attack against the PDP, saying that its ‘hollow slogans has exploited the youth of Jammu and Kashmir at large.’ Mir who contested from Gulmarg in 2002 on PDP ticket claimed that the party had finalized the plans of selling out Gulmarg to the outside world, hence denying the employment opportunities of the locals at large.

Mir also revealed that the mission of the Third Front in state’s political landscape is to play a vital role in the government formation. “Third Front won’t approach PDP for support but the PDP itself shall request the Third Front for the same.  If the agenda of BJP during state elections here is mission 44, the agenda of the Third Front is to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

“I can only tell you that the Third Front is going to play a vital role in the formation of the government in Jammu and Kashmir. All parties will request us for the support, we would not request anyone,” Mir said while addressing people in his assembly segment.

He maintained the people of his constituency would not allow anyone to win in this assembly segment and that the large participation of youth in his rally has given befitting reply to all those who have leveled allegations that youth are not with him.

He also in a veiled attack against PDP said that the recent distribution of party tickets has proved that the PDP MLAs have not served in their respective constituencies due to which the party has denied them the mandate and accorded the same to the new entrants.

Mir was flanked by other Third Front leaders including Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin and others.  CPI (M) leader Tarigami in his brief address while pointing towards youth said: “My heart wants what you want. Kashmir is ours and will remain ours forever”.

PDF chief Hakeem Mohammad Yasin while addressing the rally also castigated PDP for what he termed party’s politics of ‘exploitation’. He accused that PDP has no pro-people agenda and its policies are entirely against the interests of Kashmir and its people. “After National Conference, it is PDP which has strengthened the dynasty rule in Jammu and Kashmir. The fact is that PDP is not different from NC,” he said.   (KNS)
