UN a failed body: Shah

Share

Srinagar: Lamenting over the failure of United Nations Organization in bringing peace and stability in the world and creating harmony among nations, senior Kashmiri resistance leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Wednesday said it is very unfortunate that even after passing of 65 years, UN could not succeed in deescalating the always-rising tensions between two nuclear neighboring countries of South Asia viz. India and Pakistan.

In a statement, Shah said it was India that took the matter to Security Council of United Nations. “The council passed a resolution on April 21, 1948 in which Kashmiris’ right to self determination was accepted and acknowledged,” he said, adding that if United Nations still does not take notice of India’s stubbornness approach with regard to Kashmir issue the situation will turn worse than ever.

Shah said we are appealing United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki Moon to fulfill its responsibilities by resolving this longstanding issue as per its historical and political background by taking on board India, Pakistan and Kashmiris to find a peaceful and result-oriented solution of Kashmir issue.
