Srinagar: Expressing anger over the silence of government over blunders committed by Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) in Common Entrance Test (CET)-2013, aspirants and their parents have demanded immediate action against the erring BOPEE officials. They said that current regime should take some lessons from its predecessor how they had acted to save careers of thousands of students here.
BOPEE chairman RD Sharma is attempting to shield the culprits at the cost of careers of thousands of students, a delegation of parents who Tuesday alleged.
They said that their wards have lost the opportunity at JEE (Mains) as the admission was closed by the time BOPEE declared results. Delay caused by cancellation and re-examination of two papers in the CET conducted by BOPEE has cost the state dearly as at least 50 seats that fell vacant at the National Institute of Technology will remain unfilled for next four years. Government should wake up and take notice of all damages those occurred due to BOPEE blunder and gross negligence, said a parent, Tariq Ahmad.
They said that government should fix the responsibility and make officials accountable. It should ascertain where are the misusing Chemistry papers and why was color coding of papers avoided, demanded the delegation. In what could be termed as a grave blunder on part of the BOPEE, few Biology papers were found in Chemistry packets in three examination centers of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh.
Scores of aspirants alleged that BOPEE was playing with their careers. How BOPEE can assure us that its officials have not provided these papers beforehand to the wards of influential people. Instead of taking stern action against the guilty BOPEE simply postponed the examination and put thousands of students in trouble. It is a serious matter and it should be thoroughly robed, Shabnum an aspirant told KNS.
Pertinently, the credibility and authenticity of the results declared by BOPEE in June 2013 were questioned by parents and aspirants as they alleged that then BOPEE Chairman had sold CET papers for a sum of Rs 65 lakh which fetched an amount of Rs 5 crore to brokers as they allegedly sold those papers to influential people.
Despite repeated attempts Chairman BOPEE was not available for comments.
Meanwhile when contacted Panchyat Raj Minster Ali Mohammad Sagar said that government has initiated an enquiry for the CET paper mess and whosoever will be involved will face punishment. (KNS)
