Govt Releases Rs 4 Cr for JLNM Hospital Rainawari

SRINAGAR: The Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare (Independent charge), Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan has exhorted upon the functionaries of Health Department to work with devotion and dedication for bringing more improvement in health care facilities across the State, directing that ensuring punctuality among the hospital staff, bringing complete accountability and transparency in the health institutions should always remain top priority. 

The Health Minister on his first visit to the Kashmir valley after assuming charge of the Health Department today from airport straight way rushed to District Hospital, Budgam and Primary Health Centre Ompora and paid surprise inspection to these Hospitals. 

The Health Minister showed displeasure over the mismanagement and indiscipline in these institutions He cautioned the concerned Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officer that no patient faces any inconvenience while getting treatment.

The Minister said that infrastructure up gradation  under NRHM and State plan would improve health care facilities in their areas. “There is no paucity of funds to complete the under taken health projects but only need is to pay focused heed to monitor the pace of work of the projects for time bound completion”, he said and instructed Chief Medical Officers to keep close vigil on the works being carried out in their districts besides frequently inspecting the functioning of the hospitals under their control. 

The Minister also took stock of the functioning of Jawaharlal Nahru Memorial Hospital Rainawari, Srinagar. He went round each unit of the hospital, enquired from patients and about the medicare facilities provided to them by the hospital authorities. He directed concerned Medical Superintendent for ensuring all possible treatment facilities to the patients besides providing maximum benefits of RKS, JSS and other programmes under National Health Mission.

The Health Minister also reviewed physical and financial achievements of the Hospital at a meeting, in which the Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem, Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma and Medical Superintendent, Jawarhlal Nahru Memorial Hospital Rainawari were also present. 

Taking appraisal of the infrastructure development of the hospital the Minister appreciated the efforts of the executing agency and hospital management for building state of art health infrastructure for the hospital. He directed release of Rs 4 crore for carrying out outstanding works in the hospital. He instructed to keep necessary diagnostic equipment available in the hospital for patient care.
